My first real reason for wanting a healthier lifestyle was my passion for racquetball. The pursuit of excellence in the sport led me choose a healthier lifestyle in order to lose weight and become a better player.

My reason for choosing USPN is simple, the support and family comradely. Ever since the first day I felt like I had gained a new family.

Consistency is the key ingredient to achieving any goal in life, but especially with a healthier lifestyle. No one is born with a 6-pack or an amazing physique. Everyone you see on TV or social media worked hard for what they wanted and it takes time. Always remember to have patience and keep consistent to your efforts.

The thing that motivates me the most is my competition with myself. I always want to push my body further and see how much better my physique can get and my athleticism. I went from not being able to do a push-up or pull-up, to doing marathons, triathlons, and competing in the NPC. My other motivation is a bit cliché; when I see people who used to pick on me for being overweight and now I’m the one in better shape, that makes me work even harder.

I have been on my fitness journey for 10 years now and it has taught me numerous lessons and given me many experiences. However, the one thing that has kept true the entire time is my reason for taking on this journey, MYSELF. Never once did I choose this lifestyle for someone else or to impress someone. I also never made excuses; I lost over 70 pounds all while in college and working. Usually people choose college as a time to let your body go down the drain, but I found that keeping a healthier lifestyle kept my mind right and focused. Also, don’t let social media and society influence you into thinking that you have to look a certain way in order to be “healthy.” We are all different in our own ways and being healthy is a way of living, not a way you look.
