Since I was 18, I always found myself in and out of the gym but nothing too serious. There were a few times where I was consistent, but in 2013 I fell off my routine and got heavily into drinking after a devastating point in my life. It was pretty damn bad. One time I was cleaning my room and found a receipt for 13 bottles of Grey Goose! Terrible… I know. It eventually got to a point where I found myself reevaluating my life and wondering what the hell I was doing. I remember the exact day I decided to change everything, November 3rd 2013. That’s when I got into meal prepping, started lifting six times a week, and dropped the binge drinking. Next thing you know, that change turned into a passion and a lifestyle.

When I first heard about USPN, one of my team mates at Go Fitness, Phil, was working there. I was looking for a spot where I could have easy access to supplements and it just so happen to be right down the street from my house in National City. As I made more frequent visits and just meeting people at the gym, I started hearing more about USPN. Then I eventually met a few of their athletes and other people that work there. Everyone was down to Earth and we all pretty much share the same sense of humor but most importantly these guys helped me out as far as advice throughout this whole journey. Now, most of these guys I consider family and I even train on a daily with a few of my other Team U team mates.

At one point or another you’re going to fall off track, whether it’s that double double at In-N-Out or a skipped cardio session …it happens… but get the fuck back up on your feet and continue where you left off and try not to let that shit happen again.

During my teenage years I wasn’t really the best person out there. I made some wrong turns and developed a temper that engulfed me. At one point in my life, I found myself homeless doing every drug in the book sleeping on park benches. I’ve seen what rock bottom looks like and it’s not fucking pretty. My whole life changed after my brother scooped me up and got me to join the Navy. Now ever since then, I told myself I never want to go back to that. Sure I fell off with my whole alcoholic stage but this past year was definitely an eye opener for me. After everything that’s happened since I got into this lifestyle, it’s made me realize how far I’ve come and that’s enough to tell me to keep going.

I’ll be straight up. It never gets any easier. You’re going to have people tease you with food or pressure you into taking a shot. You’re going to want to skip fasted cardio or take a bite out of that pizza. Trust me I know, I’ve done it. But when it comes down to show time, it shows. I learned that the hard way. You’re going to have people talk shit and rag on your whole fitness lifestyle, but know this. Their opinions don’t mean shit to you or anyone else. Another thing, if you’re in this industry and you feel like lifting or eating healthy is a chore…you’re doing it wrong. Passion is what’s going to be your primary drive. Do it not because you have to but because you want to…….and stop fucking skipping cardio! Hahaha I have to tell myself that one from time to time.
